This paper describes the Online Slang Open Book project (www.wikislang.org) we developed based on MediaWiki (www.MediaWiki.org). The project was designed to help ESL learners to study English slang in an authentic context and help them appreciate the cultural differences between English and their mother languages. This study’s results suggest that a Wiki is an effective tool to improve the ESL learning process and learners tend to collaborative well in Wikis. The implication of the project and the future work are discussed at the end.
